Hiyama Eisuke, a struggling actor from Osaka, moves to Tokyo to chase stardom but ends up in minor roles, barely scraping by. He possesses a peculiar and burdensome ability-to hear the voices of spirits who died untimely deaths. This "gift" forces him to constantly relocate, seeking cheap, haunted properties to escape the torment of the dead.
One day, after being terrorized by another haunted property, Hiyama visits "Amami Real Estate" to complain. The company’s president, Amami Goro, reveals he knows about Hiyama’s ability and offers him a lucrative part-time job. The task? To live in a luxury apartment where a woman allegedly committed suicide five years ago. The property has a dark history: 10 previous tenants became mentally unstable, with one even attempting suicide. Amami wants Hiyama to prove the apartment is safe and "launder" its notorious reputation.
Hiyama, tempted by the high pay, accepts the offer. However, upon moving in, he hears the voice of the woman who supposedly took her own life. But her words shock him: "I was murdered!"
